WARNING! This page is again being incrementally updated for Fall 2007... some things the class has not yet discussed may be significantly changed. Chapter references given here refer to chapters in the third edition text, with corresponding second edition references in parens.
The text for this course is the 3rd revised (or 3rd or 2nd) edition of:
Computer Organization & Design, The Hardware/Software Interface, Third Edition Revised, Patterson & Hennessy, Morgan Kaufmann publisher, 3rd Edition Revised, 2007.
This textbook is widely used and it is supported by many online reference materials. The bad news is that our course cannot use any of the questions in the text because solutions for them are easily located using your favorite WWW search engine. However, the good news is that, if you don't quite follow our presentation, there are tons of materials freely available to help you. Here is the official companion site for the text.
Here is a practice final. This practice final weights the new material slightly heavier than the actual final will, but that's because you haven't had any homework assignments on the most recent stuff. Answers are in the exam and we also will go over this practice exam in class.
